At the January 3, 2019 Regular Commission Meeting, Commissioners heard a presentation from the Communications Division regarding a mural at the North Port Senior Center.  Per Commission direction, staff researched the costs for murals completed in the City of Punta Gorda which ranged from $25,000 to $35,000.

As directed by Commission, staff has researched the money available in the City’s Art Fund and currently which has a balance of $111,931.65, however $16,000 is reserved for Walgreens at Heron Creek, leaving the amount of $95,931.65 in the fund. It should be noted that the Art Fund can be utilized for the purposes discussed at the February 3rd meeting, but expenditures need to be approved by City Commission.  The Art Advisory Board provides recommendation on placement of artwork in public spaces per Admin Code 4-122.
