Background Information
An amendment to the fiscal year 2019 Non-District budget for additional funding in the estimated amount of $31,235.85 is being requested. The amendment requests $31,235.85 from the Law Enforcement Trust (Forfeiture) Fund to purchase a Ford Transit van for the Police Department.

Ancillary Equipment

The Police Department anticipates additional expenses for the purchase and/or installation of ancillary equipment. This ancillary equipment is required to be installed to prepare the Ford Transit van for the intended purpose as a transport vehicle to deploy officers and Special Response Team Operators during covert and high-risk incidents to a scene for tactical operations throughout the City. The ancillary equipment will be completed by the Fleet Management Division of the Department of Public Works.
The following are the increases to the Non-District Funds:
Ø Law Enforcement Trust (Forfeiture) Fund: $31,235.85
Ø Total cost to the Non-District Budget: $31,235.85
Purchasing a new vehicle in fiscal year 2019 would require approval of a budget amendment by the City Commission. Accordingly, staff prepared proposed Ordinance No. 2019-03, amending the Non-District Fiscal Year 2019 Budget to fund the purchase of the Ford Transit van. It is anticipated that during the public hearing held on February 26, 2019, the first reading of proposed Ordinance No 2019-03 will be conducted by the Commission. In addition, it is anticipated that the Commission will continue Ordinance No. 2019-03 to the second reading on March 5, 2019.
The Florida Department of Management Contract No. 25100000-18-1 for Motor Vehicles will be utilized to purchase one (1) new Ford Transit van. Garber Ford, Inc. is an approved vendor under the Florida Department of Management Services Invitation to Bid No. 03-25100000-A. This Contract is made available to local governments within the State of Florida for vehicle and equipment acquisition. Using this cooperative bid, local government agencies can obtain competitive pricing. Local government agencies have the flexibility to choose a product or service according to the business needs, such as price, warranty, supplier performance or brand name.

Funding in the amount of $29,235.85 is included in account number 105-2100-521.64-00. Pending Adoption of Ordinance 2019-03 on March 5, 2019.
