TITLE: Template for Law Enforcement Special Detail Application and Agreement.
Recommended Action
Approve the template for a Law Enforcement Special Detail Application and Agreement and authorize the City Manager or designee to sign future requests using the approved agreement template.
Background Information
The North Port Police Department is the City’s law enforcement agency with a mission to protect the lives and constitutional rights of the public by maintaining and promoting community, order, and respect for the law. The North Port Police Department provides a supplementary service to special events within the city by assigning off-duty law enforcement officers through the use of “Special Detail” assignments. This revised agreement provides both the applicant and our staff with a minimum staffing guide for special events based on the scope of the event and the need for police services. If approved the revised application will replace the current Application Permits A & B (attached). The use of the application agreement will work in conjunction with a new software specifically designed for off duty assignments both internal and external use. The software system is called Detail Kommander.
