Recommended Action

Adopt Ordinance No. 2018-29

Background Information

At its May 4, 2017 special meeting, the City Commission directed that staff bring back an ordinance amending the Code of the City of North Port so that special meetings would:

(1)                     Include an additional public comment period at the beginning of the meeting;

(2)                     Include a communications item at the end of the meeting; and

(3)                     Set a time limit of 15 minutes on presentations.

Our office discovered that this assignment directed to the previous City Attorney had not been completed. This item was previously scheduled on the July 10, 2018 meeting, but was not considered due to time. The Commission heard this item at first reading on September 11, 2018.
