TITLE: Contract No, 2017-07 between the City of North Port and Marquee Development, Inc. to construct sidewalks, along Haberland Boulevard, San Mateo Drive and Purdue Street, in the amount of $250,055.00 plus $12,500.00 for contingencies for a total of $262,555.00.
Recommended Action

Background Information
Funding for sidewalks is appropriated yearly through the Capital Improvements Program. The North Port Unified Land Development, Chapter 37, Article IV requires sidewalks of a minimum width of eight feet on both sides of arterial roads and a minimum width of five feet on collector roads. The funding is largely spent for sidewalks on these two types of roads; however, this project includes a one-block segment on a residential road as well.
The Haberland Boulevard segment is an approved project in the Capital Improvements Program. It will complete a missing segment of sidewalk from Jeannin Drive to Hillsborough Boulevard. Although it is predominantly located on the westerly right-of-way, the existing walkway on the Cocoplum Waterway bridge is on the east side of the roadway and a mid-block crossing just north of the bridge is needed to access this crossing.
The one block segment on San Mateo Drive, from Price Boulevard to Skyway Avenue, will complete the existing sidewalk on the east side of roadway from Pasadena Lane north to Price Boulevard.
The one block segment of sidewalk on Purdue Street from Price Boulevard to Amnesty Drive will provide a safer mode of travel for Toledo Blade Elementary students between the school and the neighborhood.
RFB No. 2017-01 was issued on November 5, 2016, and four bids were received on December 14, 2016, Marquee Development, Inc. was determined to be the lowest responsible and responsive bidder. A minor arithmetic correction was made to Marquee Development, Inc.’s bid.
Contract No. 2017-07 was reviewed and approved as to form and content by the City Attorney.
