Background Information
The City of North Port and local governments across the nation are committed to proactive preparation for, and rapid response to, threats, crises, emergencies and concerns impacting the public's health, safety and welfare. Florida League of Cities President, Susan Haynie, chose "Safe Cities, Safe Florida" as her presidential initiative for this year. The emphasis is for “Building Safer Communities”. This initiative provides city governments with training and resources to better service their residents in times of crisis. It will share best practices for building strong partnerships with agencies and organizations in the areas of incident management, health and safety, crisis communication and interagency coordination. The City of North Port shares a vision for providing excellence in service to our residents and this resolution is for supporting this important initiative of working together to create safer communities for all of Florida. The Resolution has been reviewed by the City Attorney.
