Background Information

 

On May 24, 2016, the City Commission adopted Ordinance No. 2016-12, which established the language for a proposed amendment to Section 3.02 of the City Charter and called a referendum for consideration of same.  On November 8, 2016, said referendum was conducted as part of the general election for approval or rejection of the proposed amendment.  On November 19, 2016, the City Commission held a special meeting and the City Clerk canvassed the results of the referendum that the voters approved the proposed amendment to Section 3.02, and the City Commission verified the receipt of same.

 

This resolution provides for the codification of the voter-approved language into the text of the City Charter.
