TITLE: Approve the Letter of Agreement Between the City of North Port and the International City/County Management Association Regarding Strategic Plan Implementation Strategy for the City of North Port, Florida Capstone 2022 Project in the Amount of $7,000.00 plus Participant Travel Expenses up to $10,000.


Recommended Action

Approve the Letter of Agreement between the City of North Port and the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) regarding the Strategic Plan Implementation Strategy for the City of North Port, Florida Capstone 2022 Project in the amount of $7,000.00 plus participant travel expenses up to $10,000.00.

Background Information

The International City/County Management Association (ICMA) is a trade organization and credentialing body for municipal managers all over the world. Their leadership program (LICMA) includes a capstone project for its candidates to complete as they work to attain their credentialling. Projects are submitted from all over the country.

The City of North Port submitted a Strategic Planning Project which includes assistance with identifying data metrics to quantify progress made toward strategic goals and the creation of a community engagement strategy to promote transparency to the community. The City's project was selected as one of this year's Capstone Projects. The successful completion of the project will assist the City with implementation and communications for the Strategic Plan and performance metrics. The project will also provide the City with national recognition among municipal leaders and agencies.

Per the Agreement, there is a $7,000 expense to the ICMA for their administration of the Capstone Project. In addition, the City will be responsible for the travel expenses of the project team to attend up to two in-person site visits with City staff.
