Discussion and possible action regarding a process for the use of Tree Fund monies.
Background Information
Section 45-13 of the Code of the City of North Port, Florida, establishes a Tree Fund where all mitigation fees and monetary fines for violations of City Code Chapter 45, or Chapter 21 of the Unified Land Development Code are to be collected. With recent changes to the Chapter 45 - Tree Protection Regulations, it is anticipated that there will be an increase in the amount of money collected for mitigation and violations.
Commissioner Luke has requested a discussion on the process of spending funds collected in the Tree Fund to ensure there is a process to spend the funds down in an appropriate manner.
