Recommended Action

 

Approve the First Amendment to the Lease Agreement between the City of North Port and Literacy Volunteers of South Sarasota County, Inc., (LVSSC) for space at the Family Service Center.

 

Background Information

 

Literacy Volunteers of South Sarasota County, Inc., (LVSSC) offers literacy services to adults who want to improve their functional reading, writing, and English-speaking skills. Trained volunteers provide one-on-one tutoring, classroom group learning, online learning, as well as student chats. 

 

The tenant Lease Agreement is on its fifth term and will expire on October 31, 2024. This First Amendment extends the term of the current lease agreement by one year, expiring on October 31, 2025.  The lease amount of $406.92/per month is unchanged from the previous lease agreement. Once a City-wide standardized lease policy takes affect the agreement will need to come back to Commission for approval under the new terms.

 

The first amendment to the LVSSC lease agreement has been reviewed by the City Attorney’s office and is legally correct as to form.
