Background Information

On April 20, 2022, a Commission retreat was held in Commission Chambers to facilitate professional development and build trust.  The April 20 retreat was not publicly noticed.   The next retreat is tentatively going to be held in December 2022 for the newly elected commissioner(s).

Commissioner McDowell is requesting a discussion to request the City Attorney and the Attorney General’s Office for a written opinion to interpret Florida State Statute Chapter 286 with regard to public notice requirements for Commission Retreats.  An opinion will ensure the correct interpretation and application of Florida State Statute Chapter 286, commonly referred to as Florida Open Meeting Law, are followed for the next retreat.
