Recommended Action
Approve the Memorandum of Understanding Between Miami-Dade County and Partner Law Enforcement Agencies For Sharing LPR Detection Data and Hotlists on Insight LPR’s Platform.
Background Information
Law enforcement agencies throughout the nation utilize License Plate Recognition (LPR) technology to assist with the detection, identification, and recovery of stolen vehicles, wanted persons, missing and/or endangered children/adults, and persons who have committed serious and violent crimes. The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) outlines the conditions under which the partnering agencies will share and use LPR data and stored LPR data files (Hotlists) accessed using Insight LPR systems.
The MOU is effective upon signature by all parties and will expire on January 7, 2025, unless terminated earlier, and may be renewed for two, five-year terms.
The Memorandum of Understanding Between Miami-Dade County and Partner Law Enforcement Agencies For Sharing LPR Detection Data and Hotlists on Insight LPR’s Platform has been reviewed by the City Attorney and is legally correct as to form.
