TITLE: Discussion and Possible Action Regarding Potential Topics for Joint Meeting with Sarasota County Board of County Commissioners Scheduled for October 27, 2026.
Recommended Action
Provide direction to staff on topics for joint meeting with Sarasota County Board of County Commissioners schedules for October 27, 2026.
City Commission Options
Option 1: Identify a list of topics for conversation at the joint meeting.
* Pros: Establishes a clear list of topics for staff and the Commission to prepare for in advance of the joint meeting.
* Cons: The list would be set now and may not reflect additional or emerging topics that arise before the joint meeting date.

Option 2: Discuss potential list of topics and re-visit the list at a Commission meeting in September to finalize before the meeting in October.
* Pros: Allows the Commission time to gather additional information and consider emerging issues prior to selecting topics for the joint meeting.
* Cons: Requires additional Commission time at a future meeting.
Background Information
At the City Commission Regular Meeting on July 7, 2026, the City Commission approved Resolution No. 2026-R-30 authorizing the City Commission to participate in a joint meeting to receive, discuss, and act upon matters of mutual interest.
In preparation for the joint meeting, there are several proposed items for discussion for potential inclusion on the agenda:
> Transportation provided in the City of North Port, including Breeze service
> Interlocal Service Boundary Agreement (ISBA) - Winchester Ranch
> Interlocal Service Boundary Agreement (ISBA) - Property along US 41
> Services provided to North Port residents by Sarasota County
