TITLE: Approve the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Sarasota Resident Agency Suncoast Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force (CEHTTF) Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
Recommended Action
Approve the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Sarasota Resident Agency Suncoast Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force (CEHTTF) Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
Background Information
The Sarasota Resident Agency Suncoast CEHTTF's mission includes the following:
> Provide a rapid, proactive and intelligence-driven investigative response to the sexual victimization of children and other crimes against children within the FBI's jurisdiction.
> Identify and rescue child victims.
> Reduce the vulnerability of children to sexual exploitation and abuse.
> Reduce the negative impact of domestic and international parental rights disputes.
> Strengthen the capabilities of the FBI and federal, state, local and international law enforcement agencies through training, intelligence-sharing, technical support, and investigative assistance.
The purpose of this MOU is to formalize working relationships between federal partners to achieve maximum cooperation in a combined law enforcement effort aimed at combating child exploitation and human trafficking crimes against children in the State of Florida and nationwide. A sworn member of the North Port Police Department will be selected as a CEHTTF member and will have worksite locations both at the North Port Police Department and at the Sarasota FBI field office.
Th CEHTTF MOU will supersede the current 2019 MOU and primarily updates the name of the task force. The term of this MOU is for the duration of the CEHTTF's operations, contingent upon approval of necessary funding.
