TITLE: Police Datacenter Disaster Recovery purchase of $111,920.
Recommended Action
Approve the one-time purchase to FAST Forensics, LLC of Bradenton, Florida for the Police Datacenter Disaster Recovery Project in the amount of $111,920.
Background Information
Police Department staff has been working diligently over the past several months on the Police Datacenter Disaster Recovery Project (DR). The project has involved the complete design and infrastructure needs in the Information Technology arena to a allow for seamless operation of computer networks on-site and at the Sarasota County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) in times of need. The design of the system is critical in 24/7 operations of computer infrastructure, as well as backup data retention in the event of a disaster or other catastrophic event that leads to potential loss of primary data.
The project involved contacting and working with all major companies that had the capabilities to provide a complete solution that allowed for operations at the NPPD, as well as the Sarasota County EOC and provide for data retention backup. Dell, Fujitsu, HP, Netapp, and IXSystems were all consulted on the project. After careful evaluation by the NPPD IT staff, IXSystems was the most economical and within budget while still providing all the products and services necessary of a system designed to support emergency services in a 24/7 law enforcement environment. IXSystems has customers ranging from federal, state and local government, academia, as well as corporate America. Four (4) quotes were obtained from dealers of the IXSystems. IXsystems was also contacted directly to ensure North Port Police Department received the best pricing possible.
