Discussion and possible action regarding Commission compensation formula.
City Commission Options
The Commission will discuss possible options for adjusting the compensation formula. No decisions have been made at this time, and input from Commissioners will be considered as part of the discussion.
Background Information
Sec. 5.04. - Commissioner compensation.
a) Commissioners shall receive an annual compensation, benefits, and expense allowance as defined by the City's budget.
b) Any ordinance which changes the compensation of Commissioners will not take effect until the next general City election.
Each City Commissioner's annual salary shall be paid as follows:
1) Each Commissioner shall be paid bi-weekly, using the calculation of the Commissioner's annual salary divided by 26 pay periods.
2) If a Commissioner leaves office mid-pay period, the Commissioner's salary shall be prorated. The calculation shall be determined by the Commissioner's last day in office, divided by the number of calendar days in the pay period.
3) If a Commissioner begins office mid-pay period, the Commissioner's salary shall be prorated. The calculation shall be determined by the Commissioner's first day in office, divided by the number of calendar days in the pay period.
4) Salary calculation
a. Effective November 6, 2024, the salary for each Commissioner shall be calculated using the formula below, designed for County Commissioners and set forth in the salaries of elected County constitutional officers and School District officials, published annually by the Office of Economic and Demographic Research ("EDR Publication"):
