TITLE: Ordinance No. 2016-37, first reading, amending the Fiscal Year 2016-2017 Non-District Budget and Capital Improvement Program and Budget.
Recommended Action
Continue Ordinance No. 2016-37 to second reading on November 22, 2016.
Background Information
The Butler Park Multi-Purpose Field project was approved by Commission on September 5, 2013 with the adoption of Ordinance No. 2013-21 Adopting the Capital Improvement Program and Budget for 2014 to 2018. In December 2013, RFP No. 2014-13 for Professional Design & Engineering Services for the multi-purpose fields at Butler Park was advertised; and on July 14, 2014 Commission awarded Agreement No. 2014-13 to Florida Transportation Engineers, Inc. for the design and engineering services of multipurpose playing fields at Butler Park. The design of the project includes the planting of 41 trees at an estimated cost of $40,000. In an effort to maximize project funding, the General Services Department requests to use $40,000 from the tree fund for the purchase of the 41 trees. The Tree Fund was created for this purpose and sufficient funding is available in the Tree Fund for this purchase. Neighborhood Development Services supports our request. The funding for these trees will be from undesignated fund balance in the Tree Fund.
The Fire Station No. 85 project has been in the Capital Improvement Program and Budget since 2006 when it was originally planned. At the September 13, 2016 City Commission meeting, the contract for the construction of Fire Station No. 85 was approved by the City Commission in the amount of $2,863,710.85. Included in the design of the project and the construction contract was the planting of 91 trees and the related irrigation on the property totaling $55,570.
