Recommended Action
Accept the City-County Communications and Marketing Association's Savvy Award.
Background Information
The City of North Port has won an award from the City-County Communications and Marketing Association’s Savvy Award Program. This national award reflects the high quality of the City’s marketing and communication efforts to reach its public.
The City received a Silver Circle Award for Marketing and Tools for Government Service Delivery and Community Issue - Road Bond Referendum. The City’s Public Outreach Coordinator and Departments of Public Works, Finance and many other City Departments worked very hard for two years to educate the public about the Road Bond Referendum. This included City staff providing a public presentation about the Road Bond Referendum and Road Bond Project to many Home Owners Associations, Civic Clubs and Community Organizations, etc. Subsequent to the approval of the Road Bond Referendum, the City Manager and Finance Director worked with the Bond Company to obtain approval of a $46 million-dollar bond for the Road Bond Project. Approval of the Road Bond enabled the City to rehabilitate 266 miles of public roads.
