Approve Construction Contract No. 2022-25-2021 Water Distribution Improvements with C-Squared Certified General Contractors, Inc. in the amount of $931,532.56 with a contingency of $93,153.00, for a total amount of $1,024,685.56.
Background Information
The Department of Utilities is installing new watermains to loop the remaining dead-end lines throughout the City of North Port as part of an ongoing program to improve the following:
> Potable water distribution system reliability.
> Fire flow.
> Water quality and pressure as well as reduce the amount of flushing necessary to maintain water quality in the focus areas.
In this program phase, dead-end water lines on Lamplighter Avenue, Rockwell Avenue, Renault Circle, Meroni Boulevard, Houston Lane and Ridgewood Drive will be eliminated.
The following describes the competitive bidding process utilized to procure the services of a Contractor for Water Distribution Improvements:
> April 1, 2022: Request for Bid (RFB) No. 2022-25-2021 Water Distribution Improvements was advertised.
> May 5, 2022: Six bids were received and opened.
> Staff reviewed the bids and the lowest, responsive bidder, C-Squared Certified General Contractors, Inc. was determined to be qualified by the Project Engineer of Record, Infrastructure Solution Services, LLC.
> June 14, 2022: Notice of Intent to Award RFB No. 2022-25-2021 to C-Squared Certified General Contractors, Inc. was issued.
Based on the above, staff recommends the award of Contract No. 2022-25-2021 to C-Squared Certified General Contractors, Inc.
