Background Information
The City's wastewater treatment facilities use an activated sludge process for the treatment of wastewater. The byproduct of this process, liquid biosolids, are then dewatered via a centrifuge dewatering system and the dried solids must be hauled to a sanitary landfill or compost facility for disposal.
The Request for Bid (RFB) No. 2019-70, Biosolids Hauling, Disposal and Backup Dewatering, was advertised on June 7, 2019. A non-mandatory pre-bid meeting was held on June 17, 2019 in Purchasing. One bid was received, opened and read on July 9, 2019 at 2:00p.m. Staff reviewed the bid and the lowest, responsive bidder has been determined to be qualified. Based on this information, the Utilities Department recommends the award of RFB No. 2019-70 to Synagro South, LLC.
The terms of RFB No. 2019-70 are valid through December 31, 2022 and may be extended for three additional one-year terms, at the same price unless mutually agreed upon at each renewal period.
