Approve the Collective Bargaining Agreement Between the City of North Port and the Suncoast Professional Firefighters & Paramedics, Local No. 2546, I.A.F.F.
Background Information
The City and representatives of the Suncoast Professional Firefighters and Paramedics, Local No. 2546, (I.A.F.F.) met for several sessions since June 20, 2024, to exchange proposals and negotiate terms of a Successor Agreement for the period of October 1, 2024, to September 30, 2027. The City was notified on August 5, 2024, that the Contract was ratified by the union membership.
Some highlights of the changes to the Agreement are as follows:
Article 17, Union Business and Pool Time - Added "When the IAFF business pool account falls below 175 hours, employees covered by this agreement will have three (3) hours deducted from their individual PDO accounts, and those hours will be credited to the IAFF business pool account. (This process occurs during payroll processing, so it is not immediate.) Anytime hours are deducted in this manner, a notice will be sent to the IAFF District Vice President (DVP)."
Added "Employees that are not currently working full time regular duty are ineligible to donate additional time to the IAFF business pool time account."
Article 19, Pension Plan - Added language regarding DROP duration extending from 60 months to 96 months.
Appendix A, Firefighter Professional Development Plan - Language was modified to match changes as noted in Appendix B, the salary schedule.
