Recommended Action

Approve the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) FY 2023 Agreement for the Use of the State & Local Overtime and Authorized Expense/Strategic Initiative Program, for reimbursement of overtime costs and authorized investigative expenses incurred on OCDETF narcotics related investigations.

Background Information

The OCDETF works in conjunction with Federal Agencies on investigations that cross jurisdictional boundaries. OCDETF has a program designed to reimburse State and Local law enforcement agencies for the overtime costs often incurred by law enforcement officers while assisting in these types of investigations. The OCDETF Agreement allows for those overtime costs to be reimbursed.

The terms of the OCDETF Agreement identify a broad estimate of qualified investigative overtime hours anticipated to be reimbursable to the Department over the course of the investigation. Reimbursements are subject to availability of OCDETF program funds and will be paid for actual documented overtime hours worked.

The Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) FY 2023 Agreement has been reviewed by the City Attorney and is legally correct as to form.
