Background Information
During the recent Florida Recreation and Park Association Annual Conference held in Orlando, Florida, Joan Morgan was honored at the Awards and Installation Ceremony with the 2024 FRPA Voluntary Service - Individual Award for her exceptional commitment and tireless service to the North Port community. Through her involvement in various park and recreational activities, events, and programs, Joan has made a lasting impact by fostering community engagement, enhancing the quality of life for residents, and contributing to the growth and success of North Port's recreational initiatives. Her dedication exemplifies the true spirit of volunteerism and community leadership.
The Florida Recreation and Park Association (FRPA) was established in 1942 as an organization dedicated to the promotion, preservation, advancement, and advocacy of the Parks and Recreation profession. FRPA is directed by a volunteer Board of Directors and an Executive office located in Tallahassee, FL. Members are professionals working for federal, state and local Park and Recreation Departments and leisure service agencies throughout the State of Florida. The Florida Recreation and Park Association State Awards Program is designed to recognize and celebrate the individuals and organizations that contribute to the success and value of parks and recreation in the State of Florida.
