Background Information

During the City Commission Regular Meeting held on May 25, 2004, the School Board of Sarasota County and City of North Port entered into an Interlocal Agreement for Construction and Use of Soccer Facilities at Glenallen Elementary School. The Agreement allowed the City to construct and maintain three (3) soccer fields (lighting at two (2) of the fields); a maintenance shed; concession and restroom; signage and parking.

The First Amendment to the Interlocal Agreement adds a section enabling the School Board, at its sole expense to perform the following actions:

> Replace a portion of the existing four (4) foot fencing with six (6) foot fencing.

> Add additional six (6) foot fencing along the south and west sides of the soccer facilities to enhance perimeter security as part of school safety measures.

The City shall determine the number, size, and location of lockable equipment and pedestrian gates. The School Board shall be responsible for operating and maintaining the equipment and pedestrian gates to ensure the City has access to the soccer facilities during non-school hours. City staff shall have access to maintain all three soccer fields and surrounding grounds during school hours, before and after school, and on non-school days.
