Background Information
Existing infrastructure in the San Mateo Drive area includes sections of watermain that vary between 6", 8" and 10" in pipe size and run along various side streets as well as portions of San Mateo Drive. Because this is negatively affecting water quality in the area, in Fiscal Year 2021, the Department of Utilities budgeted funding in the amount of $350,000 for Design and $4,000,000 for Construction totaling $4,350,000 to construct a 12" water main along San Mateo Drive from Price Boulevard to Hillsborough Boulevard in an effort to improve hydraulics and water quality in the area. This Project includes replacing the existing sections of water main along San Mateo Drive and connecting to the existing water mains located alongside the adjacent streets. In Fiscal Year 2021, the Department of Public Works budgeted funding in the amount of $119,080 for Design and $655,000 for Construction totaling $774,080.00 for the construction of a five (5') foot wide sidewalk along the west side of San Mateo Drive from Adelaide Boulevard to Pasadena Lane. To achieve overall Project savings and limit traffic disruptions caused by the construction process, this Sidewalk Project will be constructed in conjunction with the San Mateo Potable Water Main Project.
