TITLE: Discussion and Possible Action to Authorize the Mayor to Sign a Letter of Support for State Appropriations Funding in the Amount of $1.5 Million for the Price Boulevard Waterway Crossings Project
Recommended Action
Discussion and possible action to authorize the Mayor to sign a letter of support to Governor DeSantis in support of $1.5 Million in State Appropriations Funding for the Price Boulevard Waterway Crossings Project.
Background Information
At its January 10, 2023 Regular Meeting, the North Port City Commission authorized the City Manager to submit the Price Boulevard Waterway Crossings and Myakkahatchee Creek Bridge Hardening Improvements Project for consideration in the Fiscal Year 2024 State of Florida Appropriations request.
Currently, $1.5 million is being considered by Governor DeSantis for the Price Boulevard Waterway Crossings portion of the project for Fiscal Year 2024. Staff has been working with the City’s lobbyist in this effort and they believe that a letter of support from Commission for the project will enhance efforts toward receiving funding. Staff is presenting a draft letter for consideration and request authorization for the Mayor to sign the letter so it may be transmitted to the Governor’s office as soon as possible.
