TITLE:                     Approve the Central Florida Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force Memorandum of Understanding Aimed at Increasing the Investigative Capabilities of Law Enforcement Officers on Technology-Facilitated Child Exploitation.

 

 

Recommended Action

 

Approve the Central Florida Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force Memorandum of Understanding aimed at increasing the investigative capabilities of law enforcement officers on technology-facilitated child exploitation.

 

Background Information

 

The Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force is a national program dedicated to investigating, prosecuting, and developing effective responses to internet crimes against children. The purpose of this Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is to formalize the working relationship between participating agencies.

 

This MOU will update and supersede the current ICAC MOU approved by Commission on September 28, 2021. It provides for changes in the reporting procedures and includes a new training section. The MOU will be effective on the signature date and will automatically renew each year thereafter unless participation is withdrawn or federal grant funding ceases.

 

The Memorandum of Understanding has been reviewed by the City Attorney and is legally correct as to form.
