TITLE: Approve the Letter of Agreement and Contract Between the City of North Port and University of North Florida Training and Services Institute, Inc., d/b/a Institute of Police Technology and Management, in an Amount Not to Exceed $8,433.41, for High Visibility Enforcement Operations in Areas with a High Rate of Pedestrian/Bicycle Crashes



Recommended Action

Approve the Letter of Agreement and Contract between the City of North Port ("vendor") and University of North Florida Training and Services Institute, Inc., d/b/a Institute of Police Technology and Management ("IPTM"), a direct support organization of the University of North Florida, in an amount not to exceed $8,433.41 for providing high visibility enforcement operations in areas with a high rate of pedestrian/bicycle crashes.

Background Information

The North Port Police Department would like to partner with the Institute of Police Technology and Management (IPTM) and FDOT to improve pedestrian and bicycle safety. The goal of this campaign is to mitigate crashes by increasing awareness of and compliance with traffic laws that protect the safety of pedestrians and bicyclists on Florida's roads.

The draft subcontract agreement was approved for the City by FDOT in the amount of $8,433.41 to provide high visibility enforcement operations in areas with a high rate of pedestrian/bicycle crashes. This Subcontract agreement will reimburse the City for sworn personnel overtime costs spent to provide high visibility enforcement operations in areas with a high rate of pedestrian/bicycle crashes.

Only properly trained officers are authorized to participate in this overtime detail. Only charges incurred between the date of execution through May 13, 2023 are allowable for reimbursement.
