Background Information

The mission of American Association of Retired Persons is to empower people to choose how they live as they age. The American Association of Retired Persons was founded to assist America's 50 and over population thrive and live their lives to the fullest. The Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) is the nation's oldest program to help low-income, unemployed individuals aged 55+ find work.

Based on their employment interests and goals, participants may also receive supportive services and skills training through an educational institution. Their SCSEP experience most often leads to permanent employment. The American Association of Retired Persons was founded in 1958 and has been serving Americans, age 50 and older, for 60 years.
