TITLE: Approve the First Amendment to the Lease Agreement between the City of North Port and the Florida Department of Health in Sarasota County for Space at the Family Service Center
Recommended Action
Approve the First Amendment to the Lease Agreement between the City of North Port and the Florida Department of Health in Sarasota County for space at the Family Service Center.
Background Information
The Florida Department of Health in Sarasota County, through the federally funded Women, Infant, and Children (WIC) program, provides services to North Port residents at the Family Service Center. This program provides healthy foods, nutrition education, referrals for healthcare and community services, breastfeeding support, and counseling at no charge to clients.
The tenant Lease Agreement is on its fifth term and will expire on August 31, 2024. An amendment has been made extending the terms of the previous lease agreement by one year, expiring on August 31, 2025. The lease amount of $1,194.63/per month is unchanged from the previous lease agreement. Once a City-wide standardized lease policy takes affect the agreement will need to come back to Commission for approval under the new terms.
The first amendment to the Florida Department of Health lease agreement has been reviewed by the City Attorney and is legally correct as to form.
