Background Information

The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), has made an additional $17 billion in new funding available for Provider Relief Fund (PRF) Phase 4 distribution for health care providers affected by COVID-19 pandemic. This funding is to be used for lost revenues and changes in operating expenses attributable to the coronavirus (COVID-19).

Fire Rescue previously received PRF Phase 1 Distribution on April 17, 2020 totaling $62,202.93 and PRF Phase 3 Distribution on December 16, 2020 totaling $2,068.90.

It is undetermined at this time what amount North Port Fire Rescue will be eligible for. The funding is a formula/methodology grant from the U.S. Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act originating from the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services. A formula grant means that the funding allocation is determined based on assessed revenue losses and expenses attributable to COVID-19, 2% of annual patient care revenue (if not previously received) and prior Provider Relief Fund distributions.
