Recommended Action

 

Discussion and possible action regarding designating “No Wake” zones in City Canals.

 

Background Information

 

Pursuant to the Code of the City of North Port Chapter 82 Article II Section 24, Authorization to establish restrictions, the City Commission has the authority to establish by resolution maximum vessel speeds and idle speed - no wake zones within designated areas.

 

Commissioner Luke has requested discussion of “No Wake” zones, particularly within the Cocoplum Waterway between water control structure (WCS) 106 to WCS 117, including the area near the Dallas White Park boat ramp, and within the Blue Ridge Waterway from WCS 118 south to the Cocoplum Waterway.

 

Commissioner Luke has requested this matter be brought to Commission for discussion.
