TITLE:                     Approve the First Amendment to the Community Development Block Grant Subrecipient Agreement Between Sarasota County, Florida and the City of North Port, Florida for the Pan American Boulevard Seawall Renovation, Extending the Timeline

Recommended Action

Approve the first amendment to the Community Development Block Grant Subrecipient Agreement with Sarasota County for the Pan American Boulevard Seawall Renovation, extending the timeline to December 30, 2023.

Background Information

The City of North Port has a Subrecipient Agreement with Sarasota County for the receipt and use of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds for the Pan American Boulevard Seawall Renovation, at Jeffrey Lake, between Merrill Street and Safford Terrace. The grant was fully executed on March 8, 2022 and will reimburse the City up to $100,000 for construction costs.

Based on continuing feedback and other information received regarding delays in receiving construction materials, we have reason to believe there will be delays in delivery of steel sheet pile and handrail.  As a result, we have requested and have been granted a timeline extension, setting a new project completion date for December 30, 2023.

The agreement has been reviewed by the City Attorney for legal form and correctness.
