TITLE: Approve Group Medical Insurance Contract with Aetna Life Insurance Company
Recommended Action
Approve Group Medical Insurance Contract with Aetna Life Insurance Company (AETNA).
Background Information
At the City Commission Special Meeting held on March 24, 2020, Commission approved AETNA as the City’s new group medical insurance carrier. Human Resources staff are working with the City’s broker, the Gehring Group, and representatives of AETNA to make the transition for City employees from Cigna to AETNA which will be effective May 1, 2020. The attached contract is the formal agreement between AETNA and the City of North Port, which was procured by the Gehring Group pursuant to the City’s contracted broker services.
The Contract has been reviewed by the City Attorney and is approved as to form and correctness.

Financial Impact
There is no impact to the budget this fiscal year due to AETNA providing a three-month fee holiday for administration fees. The total credit for the three-month fee holiday is $63,985.
