TITLE:                     Presentation Regarding an Inventory List of City-Owned Surplus Property Sites that are Appropriate for Use as Affordable Housing

 

 

Recommended Action

 

Direct staff on whether to move forward with placement of the list of identified surplus properties suitable for affordable housing on a regular meeting of the Commission.

 

Background Information

 

Planning and Zoning Manager Thomas J. Fiorelli will provide a presentation in regard to an inventory list of Surplus property sites that are appropriate for use as affordable housing.

 

Florida Statute 166.0451 requires each municipality to prepare an inventory list of all real property within its jurisdiction to which the municipality or any dependent special district within its boundaries holds fee simple title which is appropriate for use as affordable housing. Following a public hearing and any revisions, the governing body of the municipality shall adopt a resolution that includes an inventory list of such property. Each municipality shall make the inventory list publicly available on its website to encourage potential development.
