TITLE: A Resolution of the City of North Port, Florida, Amending City Commission Policy No. 2021-05 Related to Commission Meeting Schedules, Notices, and Agendas; Providing for Incorporation of Recitals; Providing for Conflicts; Providing for Severability; and Providing an Effective Date.
Recommended Action
Adopt Resolution No. 2025-R-10 as presented.
Background Information
During their Regular Meeting held on September 24, 2024, the City Commission motioned to amend Commission Policy No. 2021-05 to:
> Define process for placement of item(s) on an agenda requested by a member of the public.
> Define process for placement of item(s) on an agenda requested by a Commissioner and denied by the City Manager.
The below underline/strikethrough changes have been made to the policy:
> Location. The City Clerk shall post meeting notices on the bulletin board in City Hall and on the internet in a location accessible from the City's website.
> Requests by staff for inclusion of any item must be submitted in writing to the City Manager or designee for review. Requests should include the nature of the item, a statement of requested action, and background documentation.
> Individual Commissioners may submit agenda items for inclusion to the City Manager and/or the City Clerk. The City Manager will determine the date for item placement on an upcoming agenda. In the event that the City Manager denies placement of an item on an upcoming agenda, the request will be placed on the next agenda for Commission direction.
> Members of the public may submit agenda items for inclusion to each City Commissioners or all City Commissioner. A Commissioner may then request placement on an agenda according to Section C.1.a.3. above.
