Background Information

Strickland Smith of Heidt Design, LLC has formally submitted to the City of North Port, a Development Master Plan Amendment application to request a waiver from the Lighting Standards in the Unified Land Development Code (ULDC) Section 37-50 A (6). Specifically, the applicant is requesting a waiver from the Illumination Requirements to allow for an average of 0.4 foot-candles for sidewalks where the ULDC currently requires a minimum of 0.9 foot-candles for sidewalks generally and 0.5 foot-candles for sidewalks along home fronts.

During their Regular Meeting on December 17, 2020, the Planning and Zoning Advisory Board reviewed DMA-20-143 and critiqued the total number of lights and consistency with the existing development. At the conclusion of the meeting, the Planning and Zoning Advisory Board recommended unanimous approval of the DMA-20-143, Cypress Falls Phase 2E Development Master Plan Amendment to City Commission.
