Background Information
The Department of Public Works has received full accreditation from the American Public Works Association (APWA) for the fourth time. APWA Accreditation formally recognizes the Department of Public Works compliance with the recommended management practices contained in APWA’s Public Works Management Practices Manual.
The Department of Public Works first earned APWA Accreditation in 2014 and was reaccredited in 2018, 2022, and 2026. Accreditation is granted for a four-year period, after which the agency must apply for reaccreditation. The accreditation program promotes continuous improvement, operational efficiency, professional management practices, and high-quality public service.
The City of North Port Department of Public Works is one of the 42 APWA accredited agencies in Florida. APWA President Elect Robert Garland, P.E., PWLF, Vice President and Regional Director for McKim & Creed, will recognize the accreditation achievement to the Department of Public Works.
