TITLE: Amendment No. 2 to Agreement 2014-13 between the City of North Port and Florida Transportation Engineering, Inc. in the amount of $18,965 for the electrical engineering to light the new Multi-use fields at Butler Park.


Recommended Action

Approve Amendment No. 2 to Agreement 2014-13 between the City of North Port and Florida Transportation Engineering, Inc. in the amount of $18,965 for the electrical engineering to light the new Multi-use fields at Butler Park.

Background Information

On July 14, 2014 Commission awarded Agreement No. 2014-13 to Florida Transportation Engineers, Inc. for the design and engineering services of multipurpose playing fields at Butler Park including bid and construction services.

At the February 27, 2015 Commission workshop there was a unanimous consensus from Commission to authorize the City Manager to effectuate the demolition of the concession building at Butler Park, and relocate the electrical service. In order to achieve this task, Amendment No. 1 to Agreement 2014-13 was needed for the additional design/engineering work in the amount of $8,500.

Commission approved the FY17 Capital Improvement Plan which included approximately $250,000 for Field Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment in FY17 and field lighting for the following FY18 for approximately $250,000. Staff is requesting Commission authorize the design/engineering of field lighting in the amount of $18,965 to be utilized from the current FY17 Field, Fixtures & Equipment budget. Upon completion of the engineering and evaluation of the opinion of probable cost, staff will bring to Commission a construction change order for XGD Systems to install the underground electrical infrastructure for future ballfield lighting.
