Approve the Eleventh Amendment to Construction Manager at Risk Contract No. 2023-17.002 for Construction Services Contract, Phase II with Halfacre Construction Company in the amount of $318,101.31, for repairs/replacement of the Myakkahatchee bridge and observation deck at the Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park.
Background Information
The following provides a chronological order of events pertinent to the repairs/replacement of the Myakkahatchee bridge and observation deck at the Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park:
> Early 2023: Pennoni Associates Inc., an engineering firm specializing in park improvements, was contracted to assess the structural conditions of the bridge and deck located at Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park, 6968 Reisterstown Road in North Port, following visual observations of damage by staff.
> February 17, 2023: Pennoni issued a letter to the City of North Port advising that there is significant risk of collapse; detachment or dislodgement of the bridge and observation deck under service load, as defined by Section 202 of the 2020 Florida Existing Building Code related to the structural conditions. As such, both amenities were closed to the public later that day. The equestrian bridge will be replaced, and the observation deck will be reconfigured and repaired pursuant to the drawings created by Pennoni to implement the improvements.
