Recommended Action
Option 1: Approve the disposition of surplus fleet assets in an appropriate fashion pursuant to Chapter 2 Administration, Article VIII Procurement, Section 2-419, Disposition of City Assets and Property (d), (1) of the Code of the City of North Port, Florida.
City Commission Options
Option 1: Approve the disposition of surplus fleet assets in an appropriate fashion pursuant to Chapter 2 Administration, Article VIII Procurement, Section 2-419, Disposition of City Assets and Property (d), (1) of the Code of the City of North Port, Florida.
* Pros: Recovers value from aging fleet assets, reducing maintenance costs and frees up operational space and resources.
* Cons: The fleet assets will no longer be available as back up equipment in case of unexpected operational needs.
Option 2: Deny the disposition of surplus fleet assets in an appropriate fashion pursuant to Chapter 2 Administration, Article VIII Procurement, Section 2-419, Disposition of City Assets and Property (d), (1) of the Code of the City of North Port, Florida.
* Pros: Retains fleet assets as potential fleet spares for backup use.
* Cons: Retaining aging equipment may result in increased maintenance costs, reduced reliability, and diversion of resources from newer, more efficient assets.
