TO: Honorable Mayor & Members of the North Port Commission
FROM: Jonathan R. Lewis, ICMA-CM, City Manager
TITLE: Adopt-A-Park Park Program Agreement Revisions
Recommended Action
Commission approve the revised Adopt-a-Park Program Agreement.
Background Information
The Adopt-A-Park Program was approved by the City Commission on July 14, 2003 and was established to provide an avenue for individuals, groups and/or businesses to get involved in the community and support the City’s efforts towards maintenance and upkeep of the park system. Through the Adopt-a-Park program, volunteers assume responsibility for an assigned park or section of a park and agree to participate in park improvements a minimum of four (4) times a year for a one year, renewable period.
Over the last 12 years, the approved activities for volunteers have been refined based on common interests of volunteer groups and established park maintenance practices. The attached Adopt-a-Park Program Agreement Draft Revision incorporates these changes and is more reflective of the services provided by volunteers.
The attached Agreement has been reviewed by the City Attorney and also approved by the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board at the December 17, 2015 meeting.
