TITLE: Review and approve a draft of the Interlocal Agreement Providing for the Administration of a Joint County/Municipality Economic Development Program.

Recommended Action

Review and approve a draft of the Interlocal Agreement Providing for the Administration of a Joint County/Municipality Economic Development Program.

Background Information

Pursuant to Commission direction at the September 6, 2018 Commission meeting, County and City Staff have provided an updated Interlocal Agreement which allows for contracting with the Economic Development Corporation of Sarasota County (EDCSC) and contains expectations, responsibilities, and measures of performance which are standard best practices in the field of Economic Development across the US. The Interlocal Agreement as presented to Commission meets the standard set by the City Manager and has been legally reviewed as to form and correctness by the City Attorney's Office. At present, the Agreement is being circulated for the last time by Sarasota County to the other Municipalities (Cities of Venice, Sarasota and Long Boat Key) and its own Commission. The attached Legislative Text Summary outlines the Agreement and the Performance Measures the Commission requested. Pending approval, the final agreement will be brought back to Commission for approval at a future meeting.
