Recommended Action

Approve Construction Contract No. 2024-15 - Construction of North Port Utilities Administration and Warehouse Facilities with Seagate Development Group, LLC. in the amount of $28,944,372.00 with a contingency of $1,499,718.00, for a total amount of $30,444,090.00.

Background Information

The Utilities Department has grown in staff due to growth of the city. The previous Utilities Administration building, which is owned by the Public Works Department, is no longer large enough to contain the number of staff working within Utilities Administration and Field Operations Divisions. The Department started looking at different options for a new facility. The direction of the Department was to build a new building in the core service area and the project has progressed as follows:

> On September 18, 2018, Commission approved Agreement No. 2018-40 - Professional Engineering/Architectural Services for Site Selection and Design Services for Utilities Administration and Warehouse Facilities.

> On April 9, 2019, Commission directed staff to pursue the purchase of land identified for the facility on Talon Bay Drive.

> On February 25, 2020, Commission rejected Resolution No. 2020-R-06, authorizing the acquisition of the Talon Bay site, and directed staff to reevaluate properties previously considered.

> On December 7, 2020, Commission directed staff to pursue the purchase of land identified for the facility on Pan American Blvd.
