TITLE: Approve the Heat Custom Vehicle Upfitting Agreement between Heat Custom Orlando Corporation and the City of North Port, Florida on Behalf of the North Port Police Department, that will Accompany an Approved Purchase in the Amount of $35,082.88, for Upfitting a City Van into a Community Outreach Vehicle.


Recommended Action

Approve the Heat Custom Vehicle Upfitting Agreement between Heat Custom Orlando Corporation and the City of North Port, Florida on behalf of the North Port Police Department, that will accompany an approved purchase in the amount of $35,082.88, for upfitting a City van into a Community Outreach vehicle.

Background Information

Heat Custom Orlando Corporation (Heat Custom) specializes in custom food trucks, concessions trailers, mobile kitchens, mobile salons and ice cream trucks. It takes pride in custom fabricating each mobile kitchen to meet the individual needs of the customer.

The North Port Police Department (NPPD) is upfitting a 2019 Ford Transit Connect van to be used as a Community Outreach vehicle. This van will be used by the NPPD to hand out ice cream, snow cones, and other items, to build stronger relationships with children and families throughout the community. The cost to upfit the van is largely funded by the Harry Shapiro Charitable Foundation Grant and will be procured under Purchase Order No. 050466.

The Agreement outlines the terms and conditions to upfit the van and is required to accompany the Purchase Order. It provides a one-year limited warranty for defective workmanship and materials provided by Heat Custom. It does not warrant against damages or defects regarding the equipment. Registering all equipment and receiving applicable warranties through the manufacturers will be the responsibility of the City.
