Background Information
Strickland Smith of Heidt Design, LLC has formally submitted to the City of North Port, a Development Master Plan Amendment application to request a waiver from the Lighting Standards in the Unified Land Development Code (ULDC) Section 37-50 A (6). Specifically, the applicant is requesting a waiver from the Illumination requirements to allow for an average of 0.4 foot-candles for sidewalks, where the ULDC currently requires a minimum of 0.9 foot-candles for sidewalks generally and 0.5 foot-candles for sidewalks along home fronts.
During their Regular Meeting on December 17, 2020, the Planning and Zoning Advisory Board reviewed DMA-20-142 and critiqued the total number of lights and consistency with the existing development.
