TITLE:                     Award of Blue Seal of Excellence from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) to the City of North Port Department of Public Works, Fleet Management Division, to be accepted by Kenneth Rappuhn, Fleet Manager 

 

 

Recommended Action

 

Award of Blue Seal of Excellence from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) to the City of North Port Department of Public Works, Fleet Management Division.

 

Background Information

 

ASE promotes excellence in vehicle repair and service while certifying automotive professionals, so that Managers and customers can better gauge a Technician’s level of expertise.

 

For Technicians to be ASE Certified, they must pass a certification test, as well as have extensive on the job training.

 

For the Fleet Management Division to qualify for the Blue Seal of Excellence, at least 75% of the Technicians must be ASE Certified and each area of service offered in Fleet Management must be covered by at least one ASE Certified Technician.

 

1.                     Total number of Technicians - 8

2.                     Total number of ASE Certifications - 77

3.                     Master Certified Technicians - 3 

 

The Blue Seal of Excellence was awarded on January 31, 2019.

 

The Division focus includes:

 

1.                     Quality - Ensuring safe and reliable vehicles and equipment for City staff.

2.                     Innovation - Continually seeking training, knowledge, and tools to create repair efficiencies, reduce costs and improve efficiencies while diagnosing and repairing the diverse fleet of the City of North Port.
