Background Information
A Resolution of the City of North Port recognizing and supporting the American Cancer Society’s Annual Relay for Life in the City of North Port and encouraging City employees to contribute in their own personal way toward the battle of cancer. The American Cancer Society Relay for Life movement is the world’s largest fundraising event to fight every cancer in every community and unites communities across the globe to celebrate people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and take action to finish the fight once and for all. Funds raised during Relay for Life of the City of North Port enable the Society to help people facing the disease today, educate people about how to reduce their risk for cancer or detect it early, and fund cancer research that will help protect future generations. Relay for Life events helped fund more than $144 million in cancer research last year.
The City of North Port recognizes the impact cancer can have on everyone’s lives and encourages City employees to contribute towards the battle of cancer.
The Resolution has been reviewed by the City Attorney’s Office.
