Background Information
On March 9, 2020, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis issued Executive Order Number 20-52, declaring that a state of emergency exists in every county in the State of Florida due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Subsequently on March 17, 2020, the North Port City Commission adopted Ordinance No. 2020-18 declaring a local state of emergency due to COVID-19, granting emergency authority to the City Manager to issue Emergency Orders to ensure the safe conduct of necessary operations of the North Port City Government. The emergency authority granted to the City Manager during this state of emergency may extend beyond normal non-emergency powers. As the following Emergency Orders extend beyond his normal scope of authority, the City Manager requests that they be ratified by the City Commission:
• Emergency Order No. 2020-09: Order Relating to Temporary Outdoor Dining Regulations and Suspension of Certain Fees for Restaurants,
• Emergency Order No. 2020-10: Order Relating to the Reduction of certain Building Permit Fees by Twenty-Five Percent (25%).
Each of the subject Emergency Orders was prepared by the City Attorney for the City Manager’s execution.
