TITLE: Discussion and possible action regarding the license agreement with the Atlanta Braves for the use of the spring training facility for 3 city events and the use of the Plaza and the Multipurpose Fields for city sponsored recreational programs.
Recommended Action
Approve.
Background Information
This agreement is between the City of North Port and the Atlanta Braves. The agreement allows the City to use the spring training facility for 3 city events and the use of the Plaza and the Multipurpose Fields for city sponsored events.
The Braves have made an effort in incorporate matters responsive to the five conditions set by the Commission approving the Letter of Intent and Term Sheet:
Section 10 addresses the technical language that releases the City’s liability of any kind.
Section 7 addresses the local hiring and vending preference.
Section 2(a) contains no not-to-exceed language about stadium use.
Section 2 (b) specifies the use of the fields and Plaza.
Section 15 address the marketing and the promoting of the City of North Port.
There is no specific cost to this license agreement. Costs associated with this agreement will be addressed in an interlocal agreement between the West Villages Improvement District and the City of North Port later in time.
